Sarah and Sean met in the summer of 2008. Sean was already a student at Western Kentucky University, and Sarah’s Assistant Principal, John Marshall, set up an early WKU campus tour led by his fraternity brothers Walter and Reggie. They were told to show Sarah and her best friend Courtney around. John included very direct and specific instructions to keep it professional.
Upon arriving in Bowling Green for the very first time, the girls planned to follow Walter and Reggie from their apartment complex to campus. Word must have gotten around that “John Marshall’s girls were coming in to town.” The incoming freshmen were surprised to be bombarded with a living room of friendly, eager eyes from every angle, including a young Sean with a ponytail! (Pshhhh! Now, y’all already know Sarah wrote that part…Lol). There was no romantic connection yet, but this would become a recurring joke throughout their time in college. Coincidentally, that following year Sarah and Sean ended up living in the same apartment community, in buildings directly across from one another.
After pledging Alpha Phi Alpha and Alpha Kappa Alpha, Sarah and Sean had so many peers in common that they would inevitably hang out from time to time, becoming good friends. Just as that friendship began to grow, they graduated and life led them in different directions.
Even though many of those mutual friends had always sensed some type of spark between them, it wasn’t until 2016 when the two discovered that spark for themselves and began to fall into a Love they never expected.
But Sean lived in Kentucky and Sarah in Florida. There was more than 800 miles between them. So, they had to be creative and intentional about spending time together. After an unforgettable first date at SummerJam in NYC, Sean and Sarah discovered a mutual love for traveling, and took every opportunity to meet each other in various cities across the country. They learned so much about each other by talking on the phone almost every single day—for hours at a time—over the next two years before making their relationship official in 2018.
After nearly five and a half years of dating, Sean proposed on November 13, 2022 in Sarah’s hometown of Louisville, KY. While Sarah thought they were having a simple brunch date with friends, Sean had different plans. Almost 50 friends and family members attended the surprise proposal in the art gallery of the beautiful 21C hotel. Needless to say, Sarah said YES and they are now embarking on a lifelong journey together!
Over the course of their world tour, this beautiful Love story has produced some amazing memories. They would like to create their newest memory with you by their side.
Please accept the gifts of travel and unforgettable experiences from our hearts to yours. In April of 2024, we will exchange vows surrounded by the Love of family and friends…and would be honored if you were there.
